Mobile Rapid Testing Center (MRTC)

CAIPA Covid 19

To contribute to COVID-19 tracking and reopening of our economy, CAIPA Care Team organized a COVID-19 mobile testing initiative with co-sponsors, BioReference, Quest Diagnostics, Empire BCBS, Fidelis Care, MJHS and Hoolime, to screen the patient population across New York City. On April 22, 2020, CAIPA officially launched the Mobile Rapid Testing Center (MRTC), which was enthusiastically supported by many elected officials, including NY Assemblyman Ron Kim, US Congresswoman Grace Meng, and NY State Senator John Liu.

What started as a concept had blossomed into a large-scale operation in a moment of rising fear and anxiety during the peak of the pandemic. Under the leadership of CAIPA Board and Administration, CAIPA rose to the challenge of providing COVID testing to our most vulnerable population. We brought screening personnel into the neighborhoods and homes of people who might not otherwise have access to testing. Since then, we were able to provide thousands of tests which were funded by CAIPA Foundation. However, given the limited resources and funding, CAIPA Board and Senior Management decided that it is time to return our focus back to other initiatives in support of our patients, providers, and community. In addition, we are seeing government and community agencies offering free walk-in testing sites throughout New York City, so that more people can now get tested.

Thank you for CAIPA providers’ effort and commitment to helping our patients get the testing they needed. We deeply appreciate the frontline CAIPA Care Team in conducting the testing for our patients in the community, rain, or shine.
