Shining a Light on the Mental Health Crisis Among Chinese American Youth

A recent World Journal article, titled “Mental Health Station: The Silent Crisis Among Asian Teens,” highlights the growing mental health challenges facing Chinese American youth. Many teenagers are experiencing anxiety, depression, and emotional distress, yet few seek help due to cultural stigma, language barriers, family expectations, and limited access to care. Even when they attempt to reach out, support is often difficult to access.

The article features perspectives from several healthcare professionals, including CAIPA providers Dr. Yaoming Wang and Dr. Alice Lau, both pediatricians, and clinical social worker Ms. Yuanfen Liu. It also includes insights from Ms. Peggy Sheng, Executive Director of the CAIPA Foundation.
