CAIPA attended Governor Kathy Hochul’s bill signing ceremony for the Hate Crime Prevention Legislation.

Governor Hochul has announced a historic investment of over $51 million in grants to enhance the safety and security of nonprofit, community-based organizations at risk of hate crimes in New York State. This funding, the largest ever awarded by the state, will support more than 1,000 projects through the Securing Communities Against Hate Crimes Grant Program, with a renewed emphasis on enhancing cybersecurity.

Additionally, Governor Hochul signed legislation to strengthen hate crime investigation and reporting requirements on college campuses. The grants and legislation aim to combat violence based on prejudice, foster tolerance, and ensure the safety of vulnerable organizations and communities.
