The CAIPA Foundation Inc., in collaboration with the Health Essential Association, and joined by State Senator Stephen T. Chan and Assemblymember Lester Chang, hosted a Youth Mental Health Seminar in Bensonhurst Brooklyn.

The event featured a keynote by Licensed Clinical Social Worker Yuanfen Chi, titled “Supporting Youth Mental Health,” and drew strong participation from parents in the community.

The session fostered active dialogue among attendees, as parents engaged in meaningful discussions about the emotional and psychological needs of young people, helping to open up conversations that are often left unspoken.

Drawing from her clinical experience, Chi shared practical approaches to recognizing emotional changes in children, strengthening communication, and offering consistent support in everyday life. She emphasized the importance of shifting from directive parenting to a more relationship-based approach—grounded in respect, listening, and trust—so parents can become dependable allies in their children’s development.

At the conclusion of the event, Assemblymember Lester Chang presented certificates of recognition to the CAIPA Foundation Inc. and Yuanfen Chi, honoring their long-standing commitment to community service and mental health education.
