CAIPA Foundation, Inc. recently partnered with Council Member Susan Zhuang’s Office and the Chinese American Social Service Center (CASS) to host a Mental Health Station workshop for older adults, bringing together more than 60 members of the Chinese community.
During the workshop, Licensed Clinical Social Worker Yuanfen Chi discussed common mental health challenges among older adults, helped participants recognize the early signs of anxiety and depression, dispelled common misconceptions, and introduced culturally and linguistically appropriate mental health resources available in the community.
New York State Assembly Member William Colton and Ada Wong, Chief of Staff to Council Member Susan Zhuang, also attended the event and commended CAIPA Foundation for its continued efforts to advance community mental health education, increase mental health awareness among older Chinese Americans, and encourage those in need to seek professional support early.
CAIPA Foundation remains committed to expanding mental health education and improving access to culturally and linguistically appropriate resources for the Chinese community. Together, we can reduce stigma, encourage early intervention, and build a healthier, stronger community.
Mental health is just as important as physical health. Together, let’s make mental wellness a priority.
