5th Annual Asian Heritage Night Hosted by The CAIPA Foundation Inc

The CAIPA Foundation Inc. held its 5th annual Asian Heritage Night event in Midtown Manhattan on the evening of Wednesday, May 22, 2024.

Health plans, hospitals, healthcare service-related organizations, and administrators were invited to celebrate AAPI Heritage Month and commend outstanding providers for their high-quality services and contributions to the Asian community.

Sean Ma, Director of Asian Affairs for the Governor of New York State, and Gilbert Hoe, Deputy Director of Asian Affairs for New York City Mayor, opened the event and applauded CAIPA for its outstanding contributions in community services. Dr. Sun-Hoo Foo, President of the CAIPA Foundation Inc., spoke to the success of CAIPA in meeting its original goals. CAIPA President and CEO, Dr. George Liu took to the stage to highlight the contribution of Asians to American culture.

Peggy Sheng, Chief Operating Officer of CAIPA, said, ” We are very grateful that CAIPA has made unremitting efforts in promoting community services and building an Asian healthcare system…” At the same time, she also expressed her gratitude to organizations and individuals who have supported CAIPA Foundation Inc.

Dr. Xiaoyan Song, Internal Medicine, Dr. Wenjing Tao, Pediatrics, and Dr. Roland Nyein OB/GYN received the Physician of the Year Awards; Dr. Henry Chiu, Dentist, the Lifetime Achievement Award; Flushing Hospital Medical Center the Community Service Award.

The gala included four performances that showcased the rich and colorful aspects of traditional Asian culture: the “Ji Yi Fang” orchestra played traditional music; Tzu Chi Foundation volunteers featured lyrics of love and care in sign language; rhythmic Japanese Taiko drum performance brought the atmosphere of the dinner to a climax; and the night ended with an elegant Mongolian dance performance by students from New York Fei Tian Dance College.
